Terms of Business

  • The pulps and papers offered in our store are made in the U.S.A. in an artisan workshop. Each order is made separately, sometimes itself in more than one batch, out of locally grown plants. That means that no two orders are the same. So, for a larger project, order all of your materials at once, and mix them well.

  • Our workers are paid a living wage, in Massachusetts, USA. Our prices reflect the actual cost of making the products, and are not subject to negotiation or discount.

  • While the paper samples we sell are made by hand in a papermaking workshop, we offer them only as a guide to what you can expect. They may not represent exactly what you will make in your workshop. This is what makes papermaking exciting!

  • None of the materials we sell are returnable, unless defective. In the rare case of pulp that has become moldy during shipment, we ask that you boil it for 5 minutes and then ask yourself if it is still a problem. Once received, your pulp should be refrigerated. We will not accept any claims of defect once you have received and immediately inspected the pulp.

  • White as the pulp is, you will always find some "black spots" and errant fiber bits. They naturally occur, and are not defects, to our way of thinking. They can be removed with careful tweezer work if you must have the very purest white paper. That said, if you believe your pulp has been somehow contaminated after it was made, please contact us.

  • If you live in Massachusetts, sales tax must be collected on your shipment. Unfortunately, since the flat rate shipping is part of the total price, you are taxed on the shipping cost. This is a software issue that we cannot change. So we have adjusted the price to accommodate this issue. Our apologies for any confusion.
